Shreveport, LA
Yes, Shreveport is east of Texas, and it is not any cooler or less humid, but it is our first stop on leaving Texas. At this point, it's the farthest east I've ever been. We are here for a week, and I have pictures to share with you.
Shreveport has an annual sunflower festival and a sunflower trail. The festival is not happening this year, but there's a sunflower trail that I had to check out. You won't be able to tell from the pictures, but the trail turned out to be numerous small sunflower patches, definitely not the vast fields I was envisioning.
Next topic...food...while we were in Texas, a friend asked me if I'd ever had crawdads. Well, neither Tom nor I had, until we had etouffee or Étouffée at Marilynn's.
This was our first time out to a restaurant since I don't remember when. We only ate in because we were the only ones in the dining room. In addition to the etouffee, we had jambalaya, red beans and rice, and beignets. (We definitely should have gotten a second order of the beignet!)

| The beignets were full of powdered sugar and very messy! |
