Idaho

Fall is upon us, and we are continuing west. We sprint through Montana, then take a couple of days to see Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. We're staying at Camp Coeur d'Alene, which is still beautiful and green this time of year. The campgrounds are right off the Coeur d'Alene Byway (a nice drive along Lake Coeur d'Alene).

Coeur d'Alene is just a stop over. We're on our way to southwest Idaho to check out a couple of locations we missed on our previous trip to the Northwest. Our next home base is Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston, ID. Hells Gate State Park sits on the banks of the Snake River, which is the boundary between Washington and Idaho.

Lewiston is just south of both Moscow, ID and Pullman, WA, so we will be able to scout out both towns on this trip. Moscow is home to the University of Idaho, and Pullman is home to Washington State University. This part of Idaho/Washington is arid. At this time of year, the crops have been mowed, and the landscape is undulating fields of brown. Looking for some color, we visit the arboretum at the University of Idaho. We heard on the radio that it was full of fall colors.
